Second and third place winners received two tickets to A Taste of the Highlands and a free pint of Jake’s Ice Cream each month for one year.

The Top Five Flavors!

  • Cafe con Leche: The ingredients to this traditional Cuban drink are simply milk, espresso, and brown sugar. A transformation from a beverage to an ice cream would include brown sugar (probably Jake’s Brown Shugah Vanilla), folded into coffee ice cream, and just to give it a bit of whimsy we’ll include espresso chips. (Submitted by J.P. Dorigo)
  • Nutty Buddy Bonanza: This flavor is a compilation of all the flavors that make Nutty Buddy bars a childhood favorite: peanut butter ice cream dressed up with a peanut butter fudge ripple and then studded with vanilla or chocolate sugar wafers! (Submitted by Christine Cochran)
  • Apricot Cream Tart: Bits of apricot, apricot preserves, denatured amaretto liquer and buttery pie crust swirled into a french vanilla base base. (Submitted by Michelle Lyle)
  • Capt. Jake Sparrow: This flavor is inspired by a drink called The Bushwacker. The drink recipe calls for cream of coconut, kahula, black rum, dark creme de cocoa, and milk. It’s blended and delicious! I’m sure variations can be made for a non-alcoholic version of ice cream! (Submitted by Heidi Glendy)
  • Summer Tomato: Sun-dried tomato and olive oil ice cream flavored with minty fresh basil and studded with salty pistachios. (Submitted by Susan Barry)
